As more and more fast food chains add vegan burger options to their menu, like the Impossible or Beyond burger, many might wonder if this is a healthier alternative. Judy Simon, a UW Medicine dietitian, says there are some products out there that contain whole foods, like sweet potatoes or black beans – just look at the ingredient list. She cautions that some of the products have a lot of sodium, so you’ll want to watch for the nutritional labels.

“I just think it’s being aware of what you’re eating,” she says.
